Top Performers – 4th Region Tournament Quarterfinals – 2/28/17
A handful of players impressed on the opening night of quarterfinal action in the 4th Region Tournament on Tuesday at Western Kentucky University’s E.A. Diddle Arena.
As Bowling Green defeated Barren County and Franklin-Simpson knocked off Russell County, here’s a breakdown of some of the top performers from the action:
- Tavin Lovan, Franklin-Simpson
Lovan, an available senior guard/forward, scored 20 points and grabbed 5 rebounds to carry the Wildcats to a 56-33 victory. Lovan only had 4 points at halftime, but exploded for 12 points in the third quarter alone – a period in which Franklin closed it on a 17-2 run to seal the deal.
- Jared Coomer, Barren County
The Trojans’ star player dropped 20 points and pulled down 5 rebounds to help Barren County play with Bowling Green for a lengthy amount of time before falling 62-45 in Tuesday’s contest. Coomer knocked down big-time shots and was a threat that the Purples worked hard to try and contain.
- Zion Harmon, Bowling Green
Harmon, an eighth-grader, scored 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting (3-of-4 3PT FGs) to lead the Purples on the evening. Harmon is considered to be the top player in his class.
- Terry Taylor, Bowling Green
The Austin Peay signee finished with 15 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to be on the Purples’ leading scorers. Taylor hit tough baskets inside the lane and pulled down rebounds that led to baskets on the other end, while having some that gave he and his team second-chance opportunities.
- Trey Radcliffe, Franklin-Simpson
Radcliffe, a senior, scored 12 points and was the only Wildcat to have an offensive rhythm flowing in the first half of the game. Not only did Radcliffe add points to the board, but he also played lockdown defense.
