Recruiting Reports: Bailey Evers – Forest Grove HS (2017)
Bailey Evers created some buzz in the Oregon high school basketball world when he made 11 three pointers in a game as a freshman. That helped him earn a reputation as one of the best pure shooters in the state. As he wrapped up his senior season in a playoff loss to Southridge, Evers reflected on his season, his college options, and his hopes that people view him as more than just a great shooter now.
“This season was a great one that came to a tough ending. We played like a Top 10 team in the state at times and put Forest Grove basketball on the map.” said Evers who averaged 18 points and 6 assists a game while shooting nearly 40% from the 3 point line and 90% from the free throw line, and was named 1st team Great Valley Conference after the season. Evers also had the unique experience of playing for his father Greg Evers, who has been a long time coach and teacher in Forest Grove. “Playing for my dad was a great experience. There were good and bad as it seemed at times as I was always getting yelled at but it always made me better and pushed me to grow as a player and person.”
Evers is working through the process of deciding where he will attend and play in college. Local D3 and junior colleges are the schools showing the most interest. “I’ve heard from Pacific, Chemeketa, Mt. Hood, Linn Benton, Clackamas and a few others. I’m just trying to find the best fit for my style of play and also somewhere that I can start the process towards earning my degree.”
With his ability to shoot the ball from range and the basketball IQ that comes from spending most of his life in the gym, Evers is sure to find a college that will utilize his skills to the fullest.
