Recruiting Report: Danny Butt (2018)
Pulaski County High School’s Danny Butt has battled through a tough injury this season to help lead his team to another successful season. Butt, a junior point guard, has been playing with a broken foot that will require surgery, but has done whatever it has took to get the Maroons back to Rupp Arena – a place they will play in next week.
“This season has went well for me except my season was cut games with a broken foot, but at the moment I am playing through a broken foot despite needing surgery,” Butt said. “My team is performing well – we won Region (12) and are now going to Rupp (Arena). We are 27-7 as of right now.”
Butt, who has averaged 9.8 points and 1.9 rebounds per game on top of numerous assists, and Pulaski County beat Rockcastle County back on Feb. 24 to win the 47th District Tournament championship and then recently knocked off Mercer County in the 12th Region Tournament championship. They’ll now face Scott County on Wed., March 15 at 8 p.m.
“I distribute the ball really well,” Butt stated. “My strong suits are my ball handling and vision and I can shoot the ball well. But more then anything I find my teammates when they are open and put them in good situations with the ball.”
Away from basketball, Butt is a hard worker in the classroom – and puts his grades before the sport he loves.
“I’m a dedicated student in the classroom,” the athlete noted. “I have a 3.5 GPA and do all my work.”
As of now, Butt has one college offer from the University of the Cumberlands and has been shown multiple interest from smaller schools. He says that more coaches and programs should start to recognize his game because he gives his all.
“My game should catch the eyes of college coaches because I really share the ball and I can take control of the game when I need to and I know when our team needs to slow the ball down and when we need to run,” Butt added. “Also I’m a vocal leader on the court.”
