Prospect Spotlight: Mike Weaver (2018)
Mike Weaver has had quite the season for Doss High School – and so have the Dragons as a whole.
As the basketball powerhouse school in Louisville, Kentucky captured the 22nd District Tournament championship and plays for the 6th Region Tournament championship on Tuesday night, Weaver has played a solid role in the success.
“The season has been good and the team is excellent,” Weaver said. “Everybody is clicking.”
Although he hasn’t received a direct college offer or been shown any interest yet, Weaver says that coaches need to start to keep an eye out for him – especially next season in his final year of high school basketball.
“I am a decision-maker on the wing and add three-point shooting,” Weaver stated. “I don’t take plays off.”
Depending on whether or not Doss (22-10) wins the Region title game and advances to the Sweet Sixteen at Kentucky’s Rupp Arena, Weaver says he has important goals already set for next season.
“I just want to show people that I can play at the next level and make it to the State Tournament,” Weaver added. “Plus, handling the ball will make me stand out more.”
Weaver and Doss square off with Fern Creek (32-2) on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Valley High School.
