Prep Hoops KY 5 Best: Clinton County (50) vs. Greenwood (42) – 3/1/17
Clinton County and Greenwood met in the fourth and final quarterfinal game of the 4th Region Tournament on Wednesday night at Western Kentucky University’s E.A. Diddle Arena. The Bulldogs and Gators used numerous runs to go back-and-forth all throughout the contest, but only one side could escape victoriously.
Thanks to a stellar performance from Jackson Harlan, Clinton County (23-9) beat Greenwood, 50-42, to advance to next Monday’s semifinal round, where it’ll face Russellville.
- Most Valuable Player: Jackson Harlan, Clinton County — The guard was one of the key leaders for the Bulldogs on Wednesday. The athlete scored 16 points to carry Clinton County to a season-extending victory. Harlan played his style of game all throughout the contest and was a threat for Greenwood.
- Best Offensive Performance: Colin Langford, Clinton County — Langford put on an impressive offensive performance on Wednesday night. Langford, a senior, was virtually unstoppable knocking down big-time shots on Wednesday. He scored 9 points to be one of Clinton County’s leading scorers. Langford’s scoring came in a variety of ways, including layups, free-throws, mid-range pull-up jumpers and three-pointers.
- Best Defensive Performance: Alex Fee, Greenwood — As he is also known for his offensive game, Fee also made his defensive presence felt all night long. The lengthy center played tenacious defense and made many crucial steals while also blocking the only shot of the game.
- Best Rebounder: Alex Fee, Greenwood — Fee grabbed 12 rebounds in the game. He made a handful of crucial rebounds Wednesday that set up scoring opportunities on the opposite end of the court, as well as offensive boards that gave his team second chances.
- Best Coaching Decision/Strategy: Messer’s playcalling, Clinton County — The best coaching decision or strategy of the game was Coach Todd Messer’s playcalling. Messer called the proper plays and used his jam-packed basketball mind to guide his talented team to a season-extending victory.
