High School Look Back: Tavin Lovan (Franklin-Simpson)
Although his high school career has come to an end, Franklin-Simpson High School’s Tavin Lovan can reminisce on an exceptional run throughout his four years of prep basketball. As many players do, they are thrown with many ups and downs, but, like Lovan, they battle through those times and find ways to be successful. Lovan not only grew as a player, but he also grew as a person, which is the best part.
“I really enjoyed all five years at Franklin-Simpson,” Lovan said. “It was a great experience starting in eighth grade and it matured me quicker.”
Lovan, who will go down as not only one of the top players in Franklin history but in the entire 4th Region, averaged 26.3 points and 9.4 rebounds per game in 2016-17. As he was putting up big numbers, he and his fellow Wildcats went 26-7 overall and made it all the way to the 4th Region Tournament semifinals, where they fell to Bowling Green.
“Well, the season ended sooner than expected, but I wouldn’t trade those guys for anything,” Lovan stated. “All the great things we did for our community could never be overlooked by winning a game.”
Following graduation, the athlete will continue to play the game he loves, but he isn’t quite sure where yet. But, before that, Lovan says he will play one more round of AAU this spring with Team Thad after not playing much last April.
“After an injury last April, I will be going back to play spring AAU ball with Team Thad,” Lovan noted.
As he left a mark on the Franklin-Simpson High School boys’ basketball program, Lovan has a message for the athletes still playing at the prep level:
“Give it your all every time you step on the court and always listen to coach and work on your game outside of practice,” the player added.”
