The Basketball Warehouse makes it all about the kids
What The Basketball Warehouse is doing is very neat. Head coach Allen Williams and his staff have put together a very nice gym out in Largo where his teams can practice and train as much as possible.
On Thursday night, I went out to the hidden gem that is The Basketball Warehouse to see his 17U group in action. It is a very tight-knit group that runs the floor, plays tough defense and goes through drills to improve their all-around games.
This team isn’t packed with size, but they play aggressive and work well as a unit. They’ll be competing in some big tournaments this summer.
Here is a look at the roster:
Breon Hillmon (East Lake), Cadre Mobley (Countryside), Terrel Ballard (Northeast), Tripp Robinson (CCC), Devin Gross (Calvary Christian), Zhahidi Robinson (Largo), Kaleb Karnes (Berkeley Prep), Derrick Prout (East Lake), Tino Petrovic (Countryside), Troy Reeves (Countryside), Kristian Longenecker (East Lake), Derek Jenkins (Countryside) and Amant Deliu (Largo).
—Petrovic and Reeves are two main pieces for Countryside and will continue to be next season. Mobley will join the team next fall while Jenkins, is the quarterback on the football team and just loves basketball. The Cougars are representing on this squad.
—East Lake stands out as well for this team with Hillmon, Prout and Longenecker suiting up. Hillmon is a seasoned attacker, Prout is reliable and Longenecker is a big man growing into his body.
—Robinson and Deliu come in for Largo. Robinson is a fast kid with very good ball skills while Deliu is a solid role player.
—Karnes continues to get better as a pass first point guard and can knock down big jumpers. Gross is a lethal outside shooter and Robinson is in for an expanded role at CCC this upcoming season. Three underrated guards in the area here.
