All-State Tournament Team: Class 3A
A lot of talented players took the floor this week in Lakeland for the FHSAA state basketball tournament.
Here is the Class 3A all-state tournament team.
1st Team
Amorie Archibald (Trinity Christian)
The top scoring performance in the entire tournament came from this man right here. Archibald dropped 43 points, matching his career-high mark in a semifinal win over Champagnat Catholic. The senior couldn’t replicate his output in Thursday’s final loss to Orlando Christian Prep, with 14 points. Archibald is going to thrive in Conference USA at Louisiana Tech next fall.
Nassir Little (Orlando Christian Prep)
It certainly makes sense why Little is drawing so much attention from top Division-I programs. The junior big man is smooth as an attacker and outside shooter. He had plenty of big dunks in the tournament. Little averaged 18.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game as the true leader for the Warriors.
CJ Walker (Orlando Christian Prep)
Walker’s dominant final placed him here. The lengthy sophomore is so bouncy and he took advantage in the victory over Trinity Christian with 18 points, 13 rebounds, four blocks, three assists and a steal. Walker shot 8-of-12 from the field and was more involved than his sound 11-point showing in the semifinal.
Braithe Ferguson (Champagnat Catholic)
Ferguson thrives as a track and field runner and his burst is noticeable on the court. The 6’5″ senior scored 27 points in the semifinal loss to Trinity Christian. He also had nine rebounds, three blocks, two assists and a steal. Whenever the Lions needed a bucket, Ferguson was there as they fell by only nine points in the end.
