The Wildcats (25-3) topped Graceville 69-62 in overtime while West Gadsden (22-6) took down Hawthorne 55-38.
Here are the top performers from the day in 1A:
Xavier Bush (West Gadsden)
A 6’1″ senior forward, Bush had a big day for West Gadsden. He scored a team-best 15 points while shooting 7-of-12 from the field. Bush had a vicious dunk in transition and hustled in the paint for tough points.
Darion Wilson (Wildwood)
The highest scorer in either of the semifinals, Wilson had 24 points and benefited from attacking often. The 6’1″ senior connected on 11-of-14 free throws while also bringing in seven boards. His assist set up the game-winning score in overtime.
Derrick White (Graceville)
Despite fouling out with just under two minutes left in regulation, White had a nice performance with 16 points. The 6’1″ senior picked up two fouls in the first minute of the game but battled as the true leader for Graceville.
Detron Green (Hawthorne)
Green was the best thing going for Hawthorne in the first game of the tournament. He had a team-high 14 points and did all he could inside and outside for his team.
Shemar Rose (Wildwood)
Playing on a very talented shooting team certainly, helps your case. Rose dropped 17 points which included 3 triples. The 5’10” junior is a confident shooter.
Jimmy Hester (West Gadsden)
Next to bush, the 6’3″ junior flourished with a 12-point showing in 27 minutes on the floor. Hester has a nice first burst that helps him most situations.
Cameron McClain (Graceville)
McClain kept Graceville hanging around until late with his 14 points and 11 rebounds. The 6’1″ junior made some tough shots down low while switching hands.
