The 6’3″, 195-pound senior is part of a deep 2017 class that includes nine players. Along with outside shooter Andrew Cavanaugh, point man Noah Igancio and Jackson St. Louis, Collazo plays consistent basketball.
“This season has been good so far we’re 20-4,” he said. “We’ve improved so much throughout this season learning from our mistakes and getting better during practice. Our goals as a team are to be district champions and go to regionals.”
Collazo is looking to improve his overall confidence when shooting the ball. I saw him score 24 points last month in a loss to Tampa Catholic as he worked all night in the paint.
“Things that have improved for me this season is finishing at the rim and rebounding,” he said.
He has no offers yet, but Division-III Lasell College is showing him plenty of interest as of late.
Here’s how Collazo sees himself fitting in at the next level.
“I think I can fit as a guard or even a forward being able to finish, passing and boxing out,” he said. “I’ll do what I have to do to help my team win. If the coach needs me at guard or to box out the biggest guy out there I will.”
The thing about Collazo is his toughness. He may be viewed as undersized, but he works his tail off inside to grab rebounds and defend the top players. He’s a huge reason why CCC is currently in second place in Class 5A-District 9. Collazo should land an offer before the school year is over.
