Playing alongside fellow seniors Chaundee Brown, Malik William and Elijah Jordan, Summers does a steady job for the Royals (25-1).
The 6’3″, 175-pounder scored 15 points in a win over Holy Trinity last month. With just two points at the half, Summers exploded in the third quarter with 13 points which included two 3’s right in front of his own bench.
Summers always looks to get his teammates involved first, but when he is open, he can knock down shots well. He did that in that game. On Thursday, the Royals play host to Admiral Farragut in a Class 4A region semifinal.
He’s quick in transition and his length helps him get up and down the court with ease.
“I would consider myself a scorer,” Summers said. “I can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. I create my own shot and make plays for my teammates. I’m working the hardest right now on becoming a very consistent shooter.”
He’s earned interest from Yale, Lipscomb, Elon, VMI, Citadel, Cedarville and Stetson.
Expect looks to come more for Summers. Playing alongside Brown, William and Jordan certainly helps his game, but don’t think Summers can’t handle his own. His game translates well to the next level wherever that is.
