The Newsome senior is crafty at his 6’2″, 180-pound frame. Stuck flashed his abilities to make plays with a 21-point performance in a 58-52 win over Plant City on Tuesday night.
He did just about everything for the Wolves while scoring 12 of his game-high 21 points came in the second half. Stuck had six of his team’s final eight points in the fourth quarter as Newsome hung on. He also had seven rebounds, a block and a steal running the point for his team.
At 10-4, Newsome is currently second in Class 9A-District 6. The Wolves have a 2-1 record in district play while Sarasota Riverview is 2-0.
Stuck calls this season fairly successful so far.
“We still have a lot to work toward and a lot to improve upon,” he said. “Our goal is to win a district championship. Alonso and Sarasota Riverview are both in our district so it’ll be very competitive down the stretch. Our mindset is to outwork opponents and play better as a team.
He says his outside shot needs to improve this season. His leadership and pull up jumper are two things that have gotten better in his mind.
Stuck has offers from Division-III programs Emory, Piedmont, Oglethorpe, Hamilton, Roanoke, Utica, Keuka and Marietta.
He listed Emory, Roanoke and Oglethorpe as the schools showing him the most love right now. His most recent interest has come from Division-II University of Tampa. Playing at that level is something he says he’s working towards.
“I think I could fit at a Division-II school and be a hard working point guard who controls the tempo, distributes and scores when asked to,” Stuck said about his college prospects.
This is a kid right here that does just about everything you want running the floor. Stuck has good instincts, can weave through defenders and plays aggressive defense. Look for him to earn more looks at the Division-II level. He would fit right in.
