The 5’11”, 130-pound Tampa Adventist junior is having a humongous reason. Last week, I published a story highlighting the top scorers in Class 1A-5A and Rosa sat at No. 1 overall in front of Tampa Catholic’s Kevin Knox and Weinbaum Yehsiva’s Ethan Lasko.
After averaging 16.3 points per game a season ago, Rosa is posting a 30.2 PPG average as a junior. He
has two 40 point games, three 30 point games and eight 20 point games for the Hawks (10-3) in 2A.
Rosa had this to say about his junior campaign so far.
“I’ve been having a good season for me and my team, we are 5-2 in our district,” he said. “I’ve been working on my game since last summer and I have improved a lot.”
He says his main goal is to be one of the top players in Florida and go on to play Division-I basketball.
Rosa is currently working on his court vision, free throw percentage. He points to his overall shooting as something that has improved a ton this season.
The junior has no offers just yet, but he’s drawn interest from Division-III programs Southwestern and Union and NAIA school La Sierra.
It’s hard to ignore what Rosa has been able to do this season. He may be viewed as undersized, but right now he has to focus on adding bulk to his frame. At 130 lbs., it won’t be easy to play a whole season at the next level. However, he’s a playmaker right now and there’s no denying that, so the sky is the limit for his upside in 2A.
