The 6’3″, 165-pound senior is averaging 26.1 points per game for the Rams (9-8) in Class 4A. This is after, he averaged 5.3 PPG and 3.8 PPG at Timber Creek the past two seasons.
So far so good for Veygel, who has seven 20 point games and five 30 point performances. In fact he’s averaging 33.6 points per game over his last three, all 30 point games with two double doubles.
Here’s what he had to say about his season.
“This season has brought a unique sense especially due to being new at Orangewood and playing under a whole new system,” Veygel said. “Since day one they have had confidence in me and helped to bring out the best of myself and my teammates on the court. My goal right now is to help lead the team far back into the playoffs for the first time since 2007.”
Veygel is aiming to improve his overall strength. At 165 lbs., he wants to gain weight and hit the weight room daily after the end of this season to help give himself an edge with that aspect of his game.
He pointed to his mentality and confidence as two things that have really changed in his game as a senior.
Veygel has no offers yet, but he’s drawn interest from Division II programs Lynn and Mississippi College and Division III Southern Virginia.
Here’s how he sees himself at the next level.
“I hope to get an opportunity to play at a school that holds a good fit,” Veygel said. “I believe I could be a game changer at any school I would attend at the next level.”
The transfer to Orangewood Christian has proven to be a good thing for Veygel, who has really taken a liking to the offense there. He’s shining on a nightly basis and his goals are lofty for himself. Adding muscle to his frame is key much like he said. Veygel would be a nice fit at the Division-II level.
