At 6’6″, 160 lbs., the Boca Ciega junior is filled with so much length. Yes, he needs to add muscle to his frame, but playing wide receiver and running track at the school keeps Briscoe in tip top shape year round.
Last Wednesday night, he recorded a game-best 17 points in a 45-44 home win over Class 7A-District 9 rival Largo. Briscoe scored 12 points in the second half alone and also had three blocks.
His energy is undeniable throughout games. Still not fully polished as a shooter, Briscoe is someone that deserves more attention on a very scrappy Pirates group. Right now, Boca Ciega is 7-3 this season and second in the district standings.
Briscoe had this to say about the team’s season so far.
“We’ve been working hard all season to better ourselves and the team as one,” he said. “Our goal is to be the best team in the district.”
Here’s what Briscoe is focusing on improving this season.
“I’m looking to get better at attacking the basket more and I think I’m scoring way more than I have been,” he said.
Clearwater could give both Largo and Boca Ciega run for their money in the district, but I expect the district championship to be between Largo and Boca Ciega. The Packers got the best of Boca Ciega in the first matchup, but last week the Pirates flipped the script.
Briscoe is someone who stood out to me for various reasons and I think if he can continue to expand his game and use his height to his advantage, then he should start drawing interest.
