The younger brother of senior Jordan White, Austin is a 6’4″, 218-pound 2019 prospect is on the rise this season. In a district win over East Bay last week, White went off for a career-high 27 points which included him hitting 7-of-8 from beyond the arc. He found fire from outside.
He calls this season a great improvement for him from a year ago. White is averaging 10.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. As a freshman, he averaged just 5.4 points per game. Strawberry Crest currently sits at 12-9 in Class 8A-9 and fourth in the district.
“I’ve been improving rebounding and points both in and out of the paint,” White said. “My goal for my team is to win the rest of the three games we have for the season and bond with my teammates returning next year since we are a team full of sophomores.
‘My mindset is to come out in the last few games that we have and play like it’s my last. I want to leave everything out on the floor and know that I gave 100 percent effort into helping my team win games.”
White’s personal goals are to improve speed, ballhandling, his defense and to be a threat on both sides of the ball.
Only 15 years old, he is hitting his peak. White can stretch the floor with his outside ability and his attacking is getting better. Alongside a group of underclassmen, Strawberry Crest is setup for beyond this season. Expect White to only improve from this point on. He’s too talented to go unnoticed from college coaches and scouts.
