The 6’5″, 187-pound senior went through plenty of adversity during the Nature Coast Christmas Tournament a week ago. Against Countryside in the Bracket B semifinal, he had to go up against 6’9″ Tyler Witz. It was a tough matchup and you can see the frustration from King when he was called for a couple of quick fouls. However, he battled all night long.
During the tournament, he showed flashes of high intensity as an offensive threat. He put together a bounce back performance against Shaker Heights (Ohio) the following night in the third place game.
King is currently second on the Hawks in scoring with 11.9 points per game and third in rebounds with 4.8 per game.
Armwood leans on King often alongside three very talented players in junior and leading scorer Stephonse Mack, outside shooter Ky’Llen Hymon and all-around guard Chris Jones.
In Class 7A-District 7, it won’t be easy for the Hawks to come out on top against the likes of Chamberlain, Hillsborough, King, Brandon and Blake competing. However, Armwood is packed with athleticism and King is one of the players that flashes that nightly.
King deserves a look. He has a nice mid-range jumper, can attack and isn’t afraid to mix it up inside with his length.
