The 6’5″ sophomore is a lock down defender who grabs rebounds and blocks shots with ease. His offensive game is expanding right now as he settles into the varsity game a bit more.
During the Nature Coast Christmas Tournament a week ago, Findlay helped his Ravens group earn an appearance in the Bracket A final against host Nature Coast.
Alonso fell short in that game, but Findlay flashed his ability to make plays on both ends of the floor in three days of the tournament. His outside shot needs consistency, but he’s still young and his contributions on defense are impressive.
At 8-5, the Ravens will have to battle it out with Sarasota Riverview, Newsome and Riverview in Class 9A-District 6. That won’t be an easy task with Sarasota Riverview and Newsome sitting ahead of Alonso in the standings currently and playing tough ball.
Findlay is going to be a rock solid player. With time and more coaching, he should be able to be a consistent threat offensively. If you simply watch his defensive game, you’ll understand why he’s so important to Alonso basketball. Findlay is a 2019 prospect to keep a close eye on.
