A pass-first point guard, Anthony Evelyn showed up as a leader for the Senators this past week as his team won the Bracket B title at the Nature Coast Christmas Tournament.
The 5’10”, 155-pounder knocked down big jumpers all tournament long. On the first day, he had 18 points against Gaither. Evelyn did a backflip after the Senators won the championship on Friday night (video here).
Here’s what he had to say about Fletcher’s season so far.
“We started off a little rocky but we are an absolute elite team full of football players,” Evelyn said. “The Nature Coast Tournament was a good experience and a confidence boost for the team just to remind us what we really can do and who we are.”
Evelyn described himself as a pass-first point guard who loves to shoot 3’s at any moment.
“I’m looking to get better at finishing tough lay ups,” he said. “My confidence has been lifted this season by my boys and it makes me feel like it’s my team and they need me.”
Currently, he has no offers for basketball, but on the football field, he’s earned four from Southern Mississippi, South Alabama, Central Michigan and Troy.
Evelyn says playing football helps him during basketball to be a leader that everyone sees and needs.
Don’t be shocked to see this speedster earn a look for his basketball abilities. Evelyn is always having fun on the court. He plays alongside a deep group of athletes who train year round for football. Evelyn can be a contributor at the next level with his craftiness and ability to shoot from outside.
