The senior says the team started off on the wrong foot in the beginning of the season. Currently, the Cougars are 3-16 in Class 6A-District 16. However, two wins have come this month for a young group down in Broward County.
“There is a new program being built at Coconut Creek under first-year head coach Wade Edmond. I trust he knows what he’s doing,” Potter said. “I believe we have one of the hardest practices in the county along with the best staff.
“We have young elite players over there. I never had a coach close like Edmond. He doesn’t give you anything if you don’t deserve it. I think that’s what made me improve this season as a player and a person.”
The 6’0″ senior, Potter says most of his friends are basketball players so growing up, he had no choice but to go outside and shootaround.
“I pretty much grew off of it,” he said. “I knew I wanted to use it as an avenue to college.”
Potter and his team listen to “I Believe I Can Fly” before practice, on bus rides and in warmups. He says it keeps them going and is the key to the ‘CC Express.’
Currently, he holds one offer from Division-III Aurora. Potter says head coach Lance Robinson is a great guy and someone he feels that will help his future.
He also has interest from Trevecca, Montevallo, Delta State, Pfieffer and Queens Charlotte.
He’ll thrive wherever he winds up whether it is at Aurora or another college program. Potter has a bright basketball IQ and he hustles on both ends of the floor.
