In our latest installment of The Basketball Interview we talk with 2016 Post Graduate, Elliot Brook of Vision Prep Academy. The 6’9, 190 pound stretch PF is averaging 17 PPG and 8 RPG against some of the best competition in the country. Vision Prep, in it’s inaugural post grad season has played Hargrave Military Academy, Orangeville Prep (CA), Huntington Prep, and Wesley Christian (KY). Vision is set to face off with Hamilton Heights Christian Academy whose roster includes 5 Star PG and University of Kentucky committ Shai Gilgeous-Alexander later this month.
Q: What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player?
Size, quickness, athleticism, length and shooting ability
Q: What areas of improvement have you been most focused on?
Adding strength, rebounding in traffic and dominating in the post.
Q: What sets you apart from other recruits/players?
What sets me apart from other recruits is my motor. I feel that I can bring energy to a team and be a team player rather than a ‘me’ player.
Q: How has Vision Prep helped your game?
Vision has helped me way more than I thought it would have. The coaches gave me confidence that I didn’t have in high school. It has helped me grow as a player and increased my competitiveness.
Q: What is your focus for the rest of the season?
My main focus is to continue to improve as a team and as a player. Also, to win as many games as possible.
Q: What schools are recruiting you?
Nicholls State, Delta State University, and Auburn University at Montgomery has shown recent interest.
Q: What offers do you have?
Currently, none
Q: What will be the deciding factor, or what major factors play into your college choice?
The school that will be the best fit for me both on and off the court.
Q: Who is a current NBA or College player you mold your game after or can compare yourself to and why?
Anthony Davis. I feel that we both in high school were tall and lanky. Although, he was skinny he played bigger than he looked. His ability to block shots, just like me. His jump shot allows him to cause mismatches which I feel like my shot does the same. He also does it on both ends of the court.
Q: Favorite off court activity?
Playing video games and spending time with friends and family.
