MVP: Anfernee Simons (Edgewater)
The Louisville bound point guard was a beast tonight, leading the way with 28 points and 16 rebounds. Anfernee’s shot is a thing of beauty, not only was his shot working tonight but his court vision and ability to drive to the hoop were both a key part of his game tonight. Anfernee was the best player on the floor in front of a packed gym against a loaded Oak Ridge team.
Play of the game: Niven Glover (Oak Ridge)
The sophomore seems to have a highlight play every night, tonight he pulled off a fast break spin move to get around the defender leading to a thunderous slam dunk in the second quarter.
Best offensive performance: Mike Devoe (Oak Ridge)
Devoe can flat out score, he is also a great distributor of the ball, the junior is only going to improve and that is a scary thought.
Best defensive performance: Robert Allen (Edgewater)
Allen controls the paint, he bothers shooters at the rim, and contests every thing, having a dominant interior performance like he did tonight against a team like Oak Ridge is really impressive.
Best guy off the bench: Antwann Jones (Oak Ridge)
Jones, coming off the bench the last few games for Oak Ridge to give them a spark as a 6th man put up 21 points.
Best intangibles: Antwann Jones (Oak Ridge)
He is the player Oak Ridge looks for in crunch time, he can go 1 on 1 and get you a bucket when needed.
Best under-the-radar performance: Trevon Cason (Edgewater)
The sophomore was key down the stretch, a couple of big buckets and hustle plays went a long way into helping Edgewater pull off the upset, he finished with 13 points.
Best underclassmen: Michael Eads (Edgewater)
Eads, a freshman had a big game for the Eagles, he finished the game with 16 big points.
Best rebounder: Anfernee Simons (Edgewater)
Simons knows how to position himself for a rebound, the point guard reminds me of Russell Westbrook when it comes to that part of his game, 16 rebounds on the night will attest to that.
Best story to watch moving forward: Edgewater and Oak Ridge
Both of these teams have a great shot at achieving their goal for the season, this type of game tonight will only help both teams get ready for the challenges ahead in their respective playoffs.
