Keldon Johnson led the way for the Irish (14-3) with 16 points while Chase Johnson had 12 points. For the Blue Devils (15-6), Safir Daow had 16 points.
Here are the 10 best performers from this matchup.
MVP: Keldon Johnson (Huntington Prep)
A night after putting on Day 1 of the tourney, Keldon Johnson helped Huntington Prep fight back in this one. The junior attacked late in the game to drop a team-high 18 points. Johnson is a pure athlete, but his relentlessness is what helped the Irish pull this one out.
Best offensive performance: Safir Daow (Victory Rock)
Senior forward Safir Daow didn’t do much wrong in this game helping Victory Rock continue the pace and hold the lead until midway through the fourth quarter. Daow had 16 points in this game including three strong baskets in the third quarter.
Best defensive performance: Mayan Kiir (Victory Rock)
Mayan Kirr didn’t disappoint with a 10 point, eight rebound and two assist performance. Kirr is lengthy at 6’10” and he never stops working on the glass. He did just that in this game helping the Blue Devils.
Best intangibles: Tomas Woldetensae (Victory Rock)
Tomas Woldetensae scored 10 points and flashed his awareness throughout. The senior kept the tempo for the Victory Rock offense. Woldetensae isn’t going to wow you with his athleticism, but he makes plays that are very solid.
Best under-the-radar performance: Madut Akec (Victory Rock)
12 points for Madut Akec in this game. The junior forward has fun out on the court. He was dancing during the pregame shootaround and Akec played a nice game. The Blue Devils use him really well in their offense.
Best catch and shoot guy: Rasir Bolton (Huntington Prep)
Rasir Bolton only had five points in this game, but he made his shots count. Bolton played with more burst on Friday, but again he showed up when it mattered. Bolton came over to Huntington Prep two weeks ago and now he is fitting right in at his new stomping grounds.
Best underclassman: Elias King (Huntington Prep)
Elias King made it rain from downtown on Friday night with nine points. He had eight points in this game and again showed his outside shooting ability. King is a reliable threat from long range.
Best attacker: Keldon Johnson (Huntington Prep)
Johnson never gave up even with Huntington Prep trailing. His attacking led to free throw opportunities and gave his team so much life when they needed it most. Johnson is always on his A game even when gassed.
Best energy: John Dos Anjos (Victory Rock)
I first saw John Dos Anjos this past summer on the AAU circuit. He continued his progressions in this game with 11 points. Dos Anjos is lengthy at 6’7″ and he makes it tough on both ends of the floor.
Best athlete: Keyshawn Bryant (Huntington Prep)
Keyshawn Bryant is a pure athlete. He had 10 points in this game. Not as many high flying dunks as the day prior, but Bryant wowed the crowd. When he gets going it is hard to stop him.
