MVP: Michael Devoe (Oak Ridge)
Mike is a smooth player who doesn’t get too high or low, his three point shot was working tonight as it seemed it was money every time he let it go, he finishes strong at the rim and overpowers weaker defenders.
Play of the game: Niven Glover (Oak Ridge)
For this I could have gone with any of what seemed like 100 dunks that this team threw down, I believe this is High School’s version of Dunk City. I chose the dunk that brought the house down when Niven Glover pulled off a between the legs windmill, see video.
Best offensive performance: Gavin Buchanon (Bishop Snyder)
Gavin is trusted with ball handler duties and he does a good job of running the offense, he can flat out put the ball in the bucket as we saw tonight while he put up 22 points.
Best defensive performance: Emanuel Adedoyin (Oak Ridge)
Adedoyin kept his man in front of him and played good team defense.
Best passer: Michael Devoe (Oak Ridge)
Great court vision, makes unselfish plays over and over.
Best intangibles: Michael Devoe (Oak Ridge)
Devoe is a do it all point guard, plays defense and runs the offense. Mike finds the open guy with ease and scores just as well.
Best under-the-radar performance: Alex Abdy (Oak Ridge)
Abdy put in a good shift off the bench, he hit open shots and hustled on defense.
Best underclassmen: Niven Glover (Oak Ridge)
The athleticism Glover has is out of this world, watching him live is an experience, you will find yourself questioning how did he just pull something off. Seriously this team is filled with athletes and are absolutely loaded so when you add the Sophmore Glover, it’s almost unfair.
Best rebounder: Corey Walker (Bishop Snyder)
Freshman Corey Walker showed the raw potential he possesses, he finished the game with a double-double of 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Best player comparison: Corey Walker (Bishop Snyder)
The freshman showed glimpses of Giannis Antetokounmpo, a tall player who can handle the ball and play point guard if needed, Walker has a lot of potential.
