And here are 5 players who made notable climbs in ranking and that are going to be names to watch out for during the 2016-2017 basketball season.
Taveion Hollingsworth, Paul L. Dunbar (6’1, PG – MATTS MUSTANGS AAU)
Old Rank: 16 New Rank: 1
A lot happens when you lead your high school team to the state championship, and then go into the summer and lead your AAU team to the national championship game. That’s exactly what Taveion Hollingsworth did. Hollingsworth earned sweet sixteen tournament MVP and is a favorite to win Mr. Basketball in 2017. Hollingsworth was All-City player of the year in Lexington last season after averaging 21.5 points per game. A 3-star recruit nationally, Taveion choice to attend Western Kentucky University to further his playing career.
Pedro Bradshaw, Russellville High School (6’4, F – Hoop Dreams AAU)

Bradshaw averaged 21.1 points per game while shooting 57% from the field last season. On top of that, he averaged over 12 boards per game. A stand-out summer with adidas Gauntlet and Kentucky AAU powerhouse Hoop Dreams also helped elevate Bradshaw’s game. Bradshaw looks to try and get Russellville to the state tournament this year with a chance to win the 4th region. Bradshaw committed to Ohio Valley Conference powerhouse Belmont University during the summer.
Timmy Dalton, Lawrence County (6’2, G – MATTS MUSTANGS)

Jumping up 10 spots, the Salem International committ (NCAA Division II) averaged 18.6 points per game last season while shooting 55% from the field. Some of Dalton’s accomplishments include Earning All-Tournament Team (60th District and 15th Region), 15th Region Tournament MVP, All-Area Player of the Year, and is the Third All-time Leading scorer at Lawrence County High School. With MATTS Mustangs (AAU), Dalton has helped the Mustangs win Midwest AAU Championship and is also a two-time state AAU champ in Kentucky.
Damon Tobler, Perry County Centrl (6’4, F – Team Manimal)

One of the best kept secrets in the state of Kentucky, Damon Tobler is an absolute force. Averaging 17.5 points per game and 12 rebounds, Tobler is going to make some mid-major school very happy. Tobler reminds Prep Hoops Kentucky of former Kentucky Wildcat Chuck Hayes. Tobler has been offered by Samford, Tennessee Tech, Nichols State, and Winthrop.
Jared Grubb, South Laurel (6’1, Guard)
Old Rank: 81 New Rank:35
Grubb led South Laurel to a final four run in the sweet sixteen last season, including a game winning three to beat Christian County. After averaging 16 points and 4 rebounds on the season last year, he hopes to lead the Cardinals back to Rupp again. Grubb is averaging 23 points per game to start the 2017-2017 season.
