Landon averaged 17 points per game last season. Two games into the 2016-2017 season, he is averaging 21.5 points per game and shooting at a rate of 57% from the field (54% from 3).
RECRUITING REPORT:
“I play a combo guard at Pulaski County,” said Landon. “The position I feel like I would be the most effective at in college is at the point. I’m a scorer that also likes to get others in the flow of the game. I like it when everyone is touching the ball.”
Landon spent the summer playing for both VCC Nova and Louisville Lightning AAU programs. “The summer went great. We lost in the gold bracket at nationals but played very well.”
As the high school season has kicked off, Pulaski County is 1-1 with their sole loss coming from Louisville powerhouse Trinity. In the loss, Powell had 22 points and 4 rebounds. Their win came against Bourbon County. “We have high expectations for this year. The goals for this season are simple. Win the region and not just go to state, but win it. It takes a team effort and we all believe we can do it.”
A host of schools have already reached out to Landon. That list includes the University of the Cumberlands, Pikeville, West Virginia Tech, Alderson-Brodduas, Shawnee State, and Asbury University. He has an offer from Division III Allegheny. Landon has visited and enjoyed his visit to the Cumberlands and will be attending an Asbury game this month. When asked what he was looking for in a school, Landon responded by saying “I’m looking for a college to push me to be not only a better basketball player, but to be the best I can be in life. At the of the day what can I become after basketball? How can college make me who I want to be? And not only that I want to bring my faith in God with me to the college and to plant seeds for other people.”
Landon’s academics are a high priority to him as well. He boasts a 3.8 GPA to go along with a 20 ACT score. “I have already taken a couple of college classes through the semester to get some college credits.”
