The 5’11”, 160-pounder averaged just under five points in three games at the City of Palms Classic and impressed defensively with eight steals.
He had this to say about the top holiday tournament in the country.
“The City of Palms was a great experience for me,” Osuigwe told Prep Hoops Florida. “You know just going up against some of the best players in the country and having an opportunity to show what level you are at. The City of Palms was a great tournament and man I wish I had one more year so I could come back and play again next year.”
The Ascenders are 14-1 this season and are the No. 3 ranked team according to USA Today. Osuigwe talked about how his fourth year at IMG is going.
“So far this season has been a really good season for me,” he said. “It has been a really cool experience and I just hope that we just do what we do best and keep up all the work we have put in.
“IMG is an incredible school that allows you to get better day in and day out. It had been a really good experience play at IMG and I love we’re I’m at.”
Osuigwe is someone who can dribble with the best of them and find a way around defenders. Here is how he breaks down his own game.
“I consider myself to be a very crafty and shifty guard that can beat you off the dribble,” he said. “Also, I am a leader and I consider myself to be a very unselfish player and likes to get my teammate involved before myself. I can also shoot the three-ball very well and hit open shots. I’m looking to get better at finishing through contact at the basket.”
This summer, he played for the Florida Suns on the Adidas circuit before moving over to the Impact Elite and coach Dayne Masdrop.
“It was a really good experience playing with Impact Elite because I was playing with players that are from the same city as me,” Osuigwe said. “I thought that it was a good idea to play with a local team for my last AAU tournament.”
Right now, Osuigwe holds an offer from Division-II Clark Atlantic. He also has interest from FSU and Miami (Ohio).
He says that this summer he became a better shooter and more of a point guard in terms of leading a team and winning. That is apparent in his game alongside top IMG prospects Trey Duval, Emmitt Williams, Silvio De Sousa, Isaiah Stokes and Keyontae Johnson.
Osuigwe is someone who deserves more attention. He doesn’t get too many chances to show off his scoring, but he is a top-end passer and a nice leader of the offense and defense.
