His high school career at Jesuit took a big step in a win over Tampa Catholic on Jan. 8, snapping the Crusaders 16-game winning streak against them.
Adding a career-high 14 points along with five rebounds and four assists, Moliere did what any young teenage basketball player dreams of doing by hammering down a monstrous two-handed slam with just over 40 seconds left as Jesuit took a 61-51 advantage.
Moliere has packed on muscle to his 6’0″, 160 lb frame. I had a chance to see him compete multiple times before the season started including at our Prep Hoops Florida Expo in September and in a fall classic against Wharton.
Through three games this season, Moliere is averaging 13.3 points and 3.7 assists per game. As a sophomore, he averaged only 4.7 points per game as he learned and mixed in behind crafty senior D.J. Snyder.
Moliere has improved as an aggressor for the Tigers and his outside shot looks to be crisper. He knocked down a triple in the fourth quarter against Seffner Christian on Tuesday night to finish with 13 points.
As long as he continues to grind it out on defense for a gritty Jesuit bunch, Moliere will continue to get better. His offensive game has expanded and he is worrying less and letting things come naturally.
Next to senior and Loyola New Orleans commit Stevie Darst, Moliere is in for a big season as a junior as a key starter.
