However, it is only a matter of time before they take notice!
The 6’2 164 lb. athletic combo guard attacks the rim relentlessly and finishes in a variety of techniques. Clayton-Murphy has a great feel for the game and loves creating space for his mid range pull up.
Additionally, he has excellent quickness, a willing passer, and navigates defenses in transition with the best. The combination of length, athleticism, and quickness makes him a superb defender as well.
Terrance plays in the very talented 11th Region with the Bryan Station Defenders, who are off to a 6-4 start. There are no nights off in one of the most competitive regions in the state.
He doesn’t want it any other way. Clayton-Murphy told me he compares himself to, “Russell Westbrook” in terms of his, “competiveness and intensity” during games.
Clayton-Murphy has another trait similar to Westbrook and that is confidence. “I have a ton a confidence in my game.” He has plenty of reason to be with averages of 21 points, 5 assists, and 6 rebounds per game thus far.
I was on hand for one of his best early season performances against crosstown rival Henry Clay. Terrance was magnificent leading his team to victory, scoring a team-high 26 points on an efficient 11 of 17 from the field. When the game was close, Clayton-Murphy was there to make big shot after big shot for his team.
The junior has a couple areas in his game that he’s been working really hard to improve. Terrance says, “left hand (dribbling) and my 3 point shot” is what needs most improvement. The development of his off hand is paying off as, “I’m starting to go left more.”
Although, he currently does not hold any offers, Toledo and Miami (OH) have reached out to his high school coaches. However, I expect the phone to be ringing sooner than later.
Overall, Terrance also excels in the classroom with a 3.1 GPA.
