“I would say that I am a strong guard and I love to score and I can shoot the three real well,” Potter said. “My game still needs a lot of work; I need to work on my defensive game, my offensive game is pretty well, but I still need a lot of work if I want to play well at the next level.”
Potter says he and his team have gotten off to a good start on the season.
“This season has been real well for me and us as a team,” Potter stated. “We are 3-0 and people have us ranked last in our district and I think we should be at least 2nd in district. I have been performing real well in the 3 games we have had; I have had over 20+ points in every game I’ve had 10+ rebounds in 2 out of 3 games we have had. Our team plays real well together when we communicate and talk and work on on the defensive end. We are hard to beat cause our offensive game is great.”
In the classroom at the high school, Potter says he is a hard worker.
“In the classroom I am a real great student,” Potter noted. “Teachers love me and my personality and I do make good grades – all A’s and B’s. Most of the time I work hard.”
Although he hasn’t received his first direct offer yet, Potter says he has been shown interest from a handful of college programs in Western Kentucky, Lipscomb, Austin Peay and Southern Illinois, and says that more coaches and programs should start to reach out because he is simply a hard worker and very talented basketball player.
“Well I mean I am a strong guard; I bench 200 and squat 350,” Potter added. “I am a 6’3 gaurd and I can shoot the ball really well and I love to take charges and rebound just as much as I like dunking and driving to the rim. But like I said, I need a lot more work – like my ball handling needs to improve a lot and my passing is okay but it still needs work.”
Potter is determined to have a successful 2016-17 season from both a player and team standpoint. The Dragons return to action on Monday, Dec. 12 in a road contest at Glasgow High School.
