“I’m a point guard that can score better than most people think,” Gover said. “Because I’m small, people think they have an advantage on me. I play fast, but under control at all times. I’m a way better defender than I’ve ever gotten credit for.”
Gover says he and his teammates have gotten off to a really good start on the season.
“So far through 8 games we are 8-0 as a team; already beating some good teams like Louisville Eastern, Madison Central and Central Hardin,” Gover stated. “I’m averaging 30.3 points per game to go along with 6.7 assists and 4.8 rebounds. I have 247 points through 8 games while shooting 61% from the field and 51% from the 3 point line.”
In the classroom at the high school, Gover says he is a hard worker.
“I’m a 4.0 student and have a 23 on the ACT,” the player noted.
Although he hasn’t received any direct offers yet, Gover says that he has been shown interest from multiple smaller college programs and says that more college coaches and programs should start to reach out because he gives his all.
“I’ll do whatever it takes for my team to win and ultimately that’s what college coaches look for, I would assume,” Gover added. “Because of my size, I understand why the schools I’ve talked to and are talking to have been hesitant; I’m 5’8, 150 pounds. However, I don’t fear anyone – I play like I’m just as tall as anyone on the court and I can hold my own against anyone.”
