The Anclote senior is averaging 27.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 3.8 steals per game this season. As a junior, the 6’2″, 160-pound Cooper shined averaging 21.0 points per game adding double digits in all but two games.
Cooper exploded with a career-best 40-point game against Fivay last January. This season, he has four 30 point performances including a 37-point outing against Ridgewood on Dec. 1.
This kid isn’t afraid to attack the basket at will with his quick feet and interior moves. His outside shot has improved since a year ago.
Here’s what he pointed out about his game this season.
“This season my mid-range jump shot and attack to rim got a lot better,” Cooper told Prep Hoops Florida. “Being able to finish with contact or pulling up for the quick jump shot has really been helping me and my team out.”
As long he takes his defensive game as serious as his offensive success, then Cooper will get a chance to play at the next level. He certainly will be viewed as a skinny player, but he can add size if need be.
Cooper is someone who is flying under the radar in Florida out of Pasco County despite ranking seventh so far this season in overall scoring.
He has no offers yet, but Cooper has drawn interest from Eckerd, West Florida, Sage College and SUNY Canton.
