Through the first three games of the season, the 6’4″, 220-pounder had 18 points. On Saturday, Cousins had a team-best 12 points in a 65-22 loss at Tampa Prep.
The Panthers were undermanned with junior starter James Gaddie injured, but when it came to an inside presence, Cousins showed up.
He made plays down low and drew contact to go to the line often. Cousins is not the quickest player, but he is strong and uses his determination to score points.
Bell Creek will bounce back once Gaddie returns. Gaddie will help Cousins develop even further, but for now, Cousins will have to carry the bulk on his own.
The Panthers play in the Sunshine Independent League so there will be some games where they can compete. This is a relatively new program.
Having a guy like Cousins around is going to build the culture. He’s a 2017 player to watch and is someone who can leverage his play into some nice offers and interest here soon.
