The freshman made his debut for the Eagles with the football team earlier this year as a cornerback. Now, he is taking part in the basketball season and showing off his athleticism.
Blanch is a 6’2″, 184-pounder who helped East Lake force overtime on Friday night in a loss to Golden Gate. He hit a jumper at the buzzer to tie the game at 69.
Starting both football and basketball at the age of 5, Blanch says he’s been adjusting to basketball so far. He is off to a fast start for the Eagles averaging 7.8 points per game off the bench.
“I’ve been playing football but I’m still adding to my game and I’ve been playing two sports for a year now,” he said.
Here’s how Blanch breaks down his own game.
“My game is based on getting to the basket first and trying to get an easy bucket,” he said. “I’m looking to get better with my shooting because that’s what’s going to make me a bigger threat on the court.”
This kid can get up on dunks, has very good bounce and finds his way up the floor with his smoothness. At East Lake, there is room for improvement and I fully expect him to make starts at some point this season. Blanch is a 2020 prospect to keep an eye on.
