Thursday night, Christian County’s De’Torrion Ware looked the part of a D1 prospect. Ware is a 2018 combo forward. He projects as a powerful wing or undersized power forward at the next level.
According to Ware, Southeast Missouri offered him a scholarship earlier this year. This offer might still be active, but the coaching staff from SeMo have not been actively communicating lately.
Regardless of his SeMo standing, Ware will get more. He has a ferocity uncommon among high school bigs. The mobility of the bruiser is good, not great. Offensively, he operates with ease around the arc. His passing touch and vision remind of a traditional guard…albeit in a bullish body. The worry with Ware is, what position will he defend in college? Already 230ish pounds, Ware is always going to be a monstrously strong hooper.
How can Ware be expected to keep a slippery college guard in front of him?
This will be the only hindrance to an otherwise promising recruitment. Ware can shoot from the mid-range. He can rebound his position. The passing, again, the passing is special. Ware loves to send outlets flying like Kevin Love. He is a wonderful team player and clearly loves the game. He plays hard, always.
And most importantly he usually wins.
