Rank/Player/High School
1.) Steven Fitzgerald, Pulaski County High School
Fitzgerald not only nabbed the top spot among Kentucky high school shooting guards, but he also took sole possession as Kentucky’s #1 ranked player in the class of 2018. Fitzgerald had a phenomenal summer playing for adidas Gauntlet power Louisville Magic. His play caught the eye of many “Power 5” schools, including North Carolina State and Indiana. His Pulaski County Maroons are 6-2 to start the season. Fitzgerald is averaging 27.2 points per game while shooting 62% from the field.
2.) Trevon Faulkner, Mercer County High School
Averaging 22.5 points per game, Faulkner has improved his 15 feet and out game quite a bit. Stopping Faulkner at the rim is almost impossible at times. Mercer County is 7-3 to start the season.
3.) C.J. Fredrick, Covington Catholic High School
Covington Catholic is off to a hot start and CJ Fredrick is a big reason why. Covington has knocked off state tournament contenders Lexington Catholic, St. Xavier, North Hardin, Franklin-Simpson, and Bowling Green. Fredrick is averaging 22 points per game. He has scholarship offers from Iowa, Wright State, Miami (OH), Northern Kentucky, Ball State, among many others.
4.) Justin Mitchell, Henry Clay
Mitchell is averaging 18 points per game and shooting the ball at a rate of 40% from the field. He’s at his best when he is exploding to the rim.
5.) Jared Coomer, Barren County
Coomer is averaging 18 points per game for Barren County, shooting 50% from the field. Coomer’s play will help make Barren County a contender in the state’s 15th District.
