Q: What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player?
Strengths are my work ethic, shooting, IQ, and leadership. Areas to improve are my vertical and I need to get physically stronger.
Q: What sets you apart from other recruits/players?
My size, shooting ability, and leadership. I am an elite shooter hitting over 45% of my 3s on the prep circuit. I am not afraid to take the big shot and as the youngest player on my team, I am a vocal leader that my teammates respect and listen to.
Q: How has transferring to Wesley Christian helped your game?
Last season I was physically immature and developed some bad habits. Transfering to Wesley Christian forced me to re-invent myself as a player to compete on the National Prep level. It started when I committed to getting into true basketball shape. Over the spring, summer, and fall I doubled my workouts (3 to 6 hours a day) to focus on my body as much as my shooting and dribbling. I became faster, more explosive, and more agile. Once fall practice began I found myself competing against other college prospects every day in practice. My teammates, especially Benson Lin, forced me to improve and grow as a player in practice.
Q: Talk about your big win over national powers Huntington Prep and Mt Zion?
Huntington Prep is extremely talented. Their roster is loaded with several future high major D1 players and potential future pros. The game was a true classic. We went down by double digits early and battled back for the win. I finished with 11 points but most importantly i played good defense, made good decisions with the basketball, and was a good teammate. A week later we followed up by beating a Mount Zion Prep (Maryland), a team with 8 D1 players. We basically held a 6 to 12 point lead most of the game. I played a complete game and finished with 23 pts, defended and handled the ball well. These 2 wins definitely are the landmark victories our program needs and will serve as the cornerstone of our future success.
Q: What schools are recruiting you?
I currently have 15-20 D1 schools who have shown some sort of interest since this summer. I have visited Cincinnati, Murray State, and Marshall. Middle Tennessee State wants me to come for a visit. EKU, Wright State, Winthrop, Columbia, NJIT, Stetson, MTSU, Radford and VMI have shown the most interest recently.
Q: What offers do you have?
Stetson University (D1)
Q: What will be the deciding factor, or what major factors play into your college choice?
Most importantly what programs and degrees each college can offer. I realize I can not play basketball my entire life and receiving a college education is more valuable in the real world.
Q: Who is a current NBA or College player you mold your game after or can compare yourself to and why?
J.J. Redick is a player I aspire and strive to be like more and more everyday in practice. At 6’4, we have a similar stature. I admire how he never stops moving, plays within the flow of the offense and the level of basketball I.Q. he plays with.
Q: AAU Team this summer?
Right now I am focused on Wesley Christian and making it through our 54 game schedule. If I stay focused on one game at a time finding a top teir AAU program to play for this spring will take care of itself.
