The game started with both team playing closely with EE smith going on a run in the 2nd to take a 29-21 lead into halftime, in the 3rd is where EE Smith went on a run and created the lead that they would hold on to throughout the remainder of the game.
Best Athlete: Without a doubt, the play of the day came from Pine Forest HS Senior Wing Tyshun Archie when he caught the ball as it came off the rim and threw it down for a jam. Archie is still what we would call a raw athlete, he has some tools to be very good but is still unpolished when it comes to ball handling and shooting. However he’s one heck of an athlete and knows how to use it on both ends of the floor to finish plays above the rim and to block shots.
Best Shooter: Without a doubt the best shooter in this game was EE Smith Senior Guard Sydney Cooper, every point he scored was a trey ball and he got the EE Smith Golden Bulls off to a great start with his shooting. In the 1st half alone he knocked down four treys with three of them coming in the 1st quarter during the opening moments, where they would build their lead, he finished with 15 Points on the night.
Best Floor General: Pine Forest HS 2019 Guard Jordan Gladney was solid throughout, although he didn’t have an outstanding showing offensively he did a very good job of getting his squad into its sets. He handles defensive pressure well, and is a pass first point guard even though he has the ability to score the ball. Only time will tell what time of player Jordan will develop into but he has a lot of natural talent and heart, certain things that you just can’t teach.
Best All-Around Performance: This has to go to EE Smith Senior Guard Rayqwan Williams, even though he is a guard he played just about every position for his team on Friday night. On the offensive end he handled the ball well, scored it, distributed, etc. Defensively he crashed the boards well and did a very solid job guard the oppositions leading scorer throughout the game, he finished with 13 Points on the night and 5 rebounds.
Best Motor/Hustle: EE Smith 2019 Forward Deumbre Ginyard had the highest motor on the court Friday night without a doubt, he’s an undersized post player but he makes up for the lack of size with his heart. On the night he finished with 8 Points and 9 Rebounds but there was countless plays where he took charges or forced the defense into a turnover/difficult shot.
