Lexington Catholic’s Luke Johnson has chosen Loyola (Maryland) to be where he’ll spend the next four seasons on the hardwood. Johnson, a guard, is in his senior season at Lexington Catholic. Prep Hoops Kentucky caught up with Luke and talked to him about his commitment and expectations for the upcoming season.
PHKY: What stood out to you about Loyola (Maryland)?
Luke: “I really loved the coaches and facilities. I felt like it was a good fit and that I could have an opportunity to come in and contribute right away.”
PHKY: What other schools were recruiting you?
Luke: “I was getting recruited by Wright State, LaFayette, Stetson, and High Point. Loyola was my only scholarship offer, but had I not committed when I did I believe I would’ve picked up one from some of the other schools.”
PHKY: How do you feel you’ll be able to contribute at Loyola going into your freshman season?
Luke: “Like I said, I feel like I could contribute something right away. I think I could play solid minutes as a freshman and impact the game positively in any way I can.”
PHKY: Have you thought about what you plan on studying at Loyola?
Luke: “Business, but I’m not completely sure.”
PHKY: Last question! This is your senior season at Lexington Catholic. What are you goals and expectations before heading off to Loyola?
Luke: “I’d love to win the 11th region and get a shot at the state championship. Any personal goals would be awesome but I am absolutely more focused on my team.”
