Commitment Report: Cole VonHandorf (2017)
Prep Hoops KY caught up with Covington Catholic senior guard Cole VonHandorf and talked about his commitment to Fairmont State (NCAA Division II, West Virginia).
VonHandorf and the Colonels have started off strong early in the Kentucky high school basketball season at 5-1, with notable wins against Lexington Catholic and St. Xavier. Cole is averaging 15.7 points per game, shooting 57% from the field.
PHKY: What stood out to you about Fairmont State?
COLE: “Their coaches and players really made me feel at home. I really liked their facilites, as well I just felt there was a lot of community support.”
PHKY: What other schools were recruiting you?
COLE: “I had offers from Northern Kentucky University, Winthrop, Lipscomb, DePaul, Belmont-Abbey, and West Liberty.”
PHKY: How do you feel you’ll be able to contribute at Fairmont State coming into your freshman season?
COLE: “They have five seniors graduating this year so I hope to make an immediate impact.”
PHKY: Have you thought about what you plan on studying at Fairmont State?
COLE: “Business.”
PHKY: This is your senior season at Covington Catholic. What are you goals and expectations before heading off to Fairmont State?
COLE: “Our biggest goal is to win state. Also to make everyone on the team better and to work on becoming a true leader. It would also be nice to get another 30 win season!”
