PHKY: What stood out to you about Northern Kentucky University?
CHRIS: “What really stood out to me about NKU the most, as opposed to the other schools that were recruiting me, was that their head coach recruited me the hardest. Other schools I had heard mostly from just their assistants. Plus, the program is definitely on the rise, picking up last year’s Kentucky Mr. Basketball and another top 5 player from the state. I want to be a part of building the program.”
PHKY: Was there a deciding factor?
CHRIS: “There really wasn’t one set factor that separated NKU, but there were several things that helped. I’ll be fairly close to home and still be in Kentucky. Their campus size was ideal for what I was looking for and I had built really good relationships with the coaches and players.”
PHKY: What other schools were recruiting you?
CHRIS: “I had 15 offers total. Other schools that were recruiting me were Portland, Samford, East Tennessee State, New Mexico, Valpo, Central Florida – just to name a few.”
PHKY: How do you feel you’ll be able to contribute at NKU right away?
CHRIS: “The one thing they’ve repeatedly said they needed was a shot blocker and I think I can definitely fill that role and get good minutes most likely coming off the bench.”
PHKY: Have you thought about what you plan on studying?
CHRIS: “I’m undecided as of right now but I’m thinking I want to do something in a math and science field, but I’m not exactly sure yet.”
PHKY: What are some of your goals and expectations going into your senior season?
CHRIS: “Our goal is the same as every year and that’s to win a regional championship. This year I think we have a chance to win a few game sat state as well if the pieces come together. As far as personal goals, I have a chance to break the school’s scoring record and I have a chance to break the state’s record for career blocks. ”
