PHKY: What stood out to you about the Naval Academy?
Anthony: “What stood out about Navy was that I have considered myself a leader my whole life. The Naval Academy breeds officers to become leaders and I felt like the Navy would put me in real life situations and experiences that will hopefully allow me to become a more effective leader when I hopefully am able to lead a big corporation or work in a Fortune 500 company, which is a goal of mine.”
PHKY: Was there a deciding factor in your decision?
Anthony: “The deciding factor was probably on my official visit, as well as the coaching staff being heavily involved in my recruiting. I also knew the Naval Academy’s reputation as one of the highest ranking educational institutions in the country and that meant a lot to me coming from a school that ranks as one of the top prep schools in Kentucky.”
PHKY: How do you feel you’ll be able to contribute at Navy right away?
Anthony: “As a freshman I would like to have a chance at earning the Patriot League Freshman of the Year. I also look to immediately make an impact on games, whether the team needs me to score or distribute. I’ll be that guy! The coaches definitely expect me to play my freshman year.”
PHKY: Have you thought about what you plan on studying? Do you know what you would like to do in the Navy?
Anthony: “I would like to major in Economics. That is the closest major the Academy offers to a Business degree. As far as what job I would like to have in the Navy, that is undecided. It all depends on what I am eligible for depending on my GPA and what’s available.”
PHKY: What are some of your goals and expectations going into your senior season?
Anthony: “Goals for my senior season, I would like to win the “All-A” state tournament and have a good run in the Louisville Invitational Tournament, as well as make a run to the regional tournament. I would also like to show the ranking services that I’m underestimated and I’m better than what they give me credit for.”
