With kids like BJ Duling(Kent St), Will Yoakum(West Liberty St), Reece Strohm(Walsh), Tavon Brown(Hillsdale), Jay Joseph(Mt Vernon Nazarene), and more all off the recruiting boards, here is a look at the best available players in Central Ohio:
* Dibaji Walker = 6’6/SF of Independence H.S. – A long and athletic versatile player. Walker is the type of kid every team loves to have because of his efficient, yet high volume levels of output. Dunks everything possible around the rim and gets there with penetration, by running lanes well, and also with relentless rebounding as well. Defends on and off the ball, both inside and outside too. A better ball handler and shooter than given credit for, Dibaji has really developed year to year with his all around game. NBA Comparison – Dominique Wilkins, Collegiate Level of Immediate Success – NCAA Low D1.
* Keshawn Underwood = 6’4/SF of Northland H.S. – (Separate, in depth coverage coming soon)
* Luke Hippler = 6’6/SF of DeSales H.S. – A long shooter with a deceptively solid, full game. Hippler impresses initially with an immediate sighting of quality length and shot. He is a player who can score on “all three levels” as college coaches say. He is an able handler and defender who also helps out on the glass as well. Luke scores the basketball in a variety of ways. Also a strong student and family base as well. NBA Comparison – Kyle Korver, Collegiate Level of Immediate Success – NCAA D2/NAIA D1.
* Austin Bennett = 6’4/SF of Westerville North H.S. – An athletic, versatile kid with a solid all around game. Bennett is a true high riser that has posterized several players in the last calendar year. He rebounds extremely well for his size and also handles and defends on the perimeter better than expected. Able to score inside or out, he can also hit the three at a solid percentage. Transition player that can be a stat stuffer in the right system. NBA Comparison – Trevor Ariza, Collegiate Level of Immediate Success – NCAA D2/NAIA D1.
* Malik Sammons = 6’3/SF of Westerville North H.S. – A professional level leaper with lots of potential. Solid spot shooter from deep, but amazing when in transition or during penetration attacking the rim. Defends almost any position well with quickness on the perimeter and by using his top level athleticism to block shots and grab rebounds. A solid ball handler who stays within himself. A playmaker on both sides of the ball. NBA Comparison – Shawn Marion, Collegiate Level of Immediate Success – NCAA D2/NAIA D1.
* Other Notables: – Ryan Alexander – 6’4/SG-SF Columbus Academy H.S., Justin Carter – 6’3/SF Newark H.S., Darius Coker – 6’3/SG-SF Pickeirngton Central H.S., Cameron Barron – 6’4/SF Olentangy Orange H.S., Jakim Murphy – 6’3/SG-SF Newark H.S., Kyle Burrier – 6’3/SG-SF Dublin Jerome H.S.
