This class didn’t have the singular, top level kid that stands out far above all others like a Trey Burke or a Jack Gibbs, but does possess high quality depth at this position. There are lots of kids that can help scholarship colleges at the varsity level right away still open to recruiting in Central Ohio. Here is a quick look at the top available guards in the area:
* Danny Corbett = 6’0/PG of Briggs HS – A high I.Q. point guard who plays to win. Corbett is very skilled at getting penetration and making the right play for his team. A true floor general who also plays high level defense and rebounds extremely well for his position. Danny is a very strong player both mentally and physically for his age. Other than his shooting range, he is fluid in every aspect of the game. NBA Comparison – Jason Kidd Collegiate Level of Immediate Success – NCAA D2/NAIA D1.
* Anthony Mills = 6’2/PG Westerville South HS – A quick, smart point guard that is clutch. Mills handles pressure very well, has quality vision, and possesses the ability to create for self and others as well. A good defender who doesn’t take too many chances. Anthony keeps the guys around him happy, yet scores when needed for the betterment of his team. Good size at the point combined with the feet to guard smaller guards. NBA Comparison – Chauncey Billups Collegiate Level of Success – NCAA D2/NAIA D1.
* Zach Watson = 6’2/PG Dublin Jerome HS – An intelligent shooter who gets it done. Watson has led some quality, winning rosters in both AAU and high school ball. Zach also has the ability to come off screens and knock down shots on or off the ball. He is a battle-tested guard that has stood the test of time versus strong competition on big stages. His size at the point helps him more easily get his shot and see over the defense for passes. NBA Comparison – Goran Dragic Collegiate Level of Success – NCAA D2/NAIA D1.
* Christian Carter = 6’1/PG Thomas Worthington HS – A versatile, highly skilled guard with huge upside. Carter is deceptively athletic enough to both finish above the rim and also to stop others from doing so versus his team. A quality shooter with a strong handle, Christian also possesses vision at the point. Good length and quickness allow him to defend either backcourt position as well as play both on offense too. NBA Comparison – Jason Terry Collegiate Level of Success – NCAA D2/NAIA D1.
* CJ Prater = 5’10/PG Whitehall HS – A strong willed, quick player with tons of potential. Prater is a streaky but effective shooter who is always willing to take, and make, the big shot when his team needs it. This allows CJ to create for himself and for others in a system or in free flowing basketball too. NBA Comparison – Baron Davis Collegiate Level of Success – NCAA D2/NAIA D1.
