The Ascenders (10-0) outscored Norcross (10-1) 32-23 in the second half to stay undefeated.
Junior forward Emmitt Williams put up a game-high 19 points while Silvio De Sousa had 17 and Trey Duval scored nine for IMG. Norcross was led by Jordan Goldwire’s 14 points.
MVP: Emmitt Williams (IMG)
The transfer from Lehigh returned to his old stomping grounds with a high-flying performance. Along with his game-best 19 points, he had four rebounds and three blocks. Emmitt Williams shot 9-of-14 from the field, put up crowd-wowing dunks and routinely made tough jumpers inside.
Best offensive performance: Silvio De Sousa (IMG)
Silvio De Sousa made the switch from Montverde to IMG this off-season. The junior had nine rebounds along with his 17 points off the bench. His energy was undeniable on both ends of the floor. At 6’8″, 241 lbs., he’s hard to slow down.
Best defensive performance: Rayshaun Hammonds (Norcross)
A Georgia commit, Rayshaun Hammonds had 10 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks in this game. At 6’8″, he has a nice hustle to his game on both offense and defense. Rarely did Hammonds give up on a play and that bodes well for his future at the next level.
Best guy off the bench: DeAndre Osuigwe (IMG)
Six points came in this game for senior guard DeAndre Osuigwe. This kid can flat out shoot the ball anywhere on the court. He certainly benefits from Trey Duval being his floor general, but don’t cut Osuigwe any slack. He puts up good looking shots.
Best intangibles: Trey Duval (IMG)
The highly touted senior point guard played in front of Coach K on Friday night and on Saturday, he had to go up against a tough Norcross bunch. Finishing with nine points and seven assists, Duval didn’t hit many of his shots, but he kept fighting and his passing is top notch.
Best under-the-radar performance: Dalvin White (Norcross)
Dalvin White showed up time and time again for Norcross in this game. The speedy junior guard flashed nice passing skills and outside shooting. Finishing with 10 points, White was a spark plug for the Blue Devils.
Best catch and shoot guy: Kyle Sturdivant (Norcross)
Only a sophomore, Kyle Sturdivant buried 2-of-3 shots from beyond the arc. He has very nice handles and his ball movement fits with the Norcross attack. Sturdivant had 13 points and will continue to get better with age.
Best energy guy: Arseniy Andreev (IMG)
The senior guard recorded seven points for IMG including two clutch free throws late in the game. Aresniy Andreev is very muscular and poised to get to make a play whenever he can. Andreev is a crafty player that doesn’t get enough attention on his team.
Best haircut: Rayshaun Hammonds (Norcross)
Not only is Hammonds is a top-end talent, he has a fantastic haircut. Think of Elfrid Payton’s hairdo for the Orlando Magic but only bigger. If Hammonds gets to play against Payton in the NBA, expect to be watching the two talents battle it out and be confused by who is who.
Best athlete: Lance Thomas (Norcross)
Thomas is a lengthy player who will fit right in at Louisville. As a big who can shoot from outside and be a strong attacker, the sky is the limit for this athlete.
