The Seahawks (5-4) were led by junior center Bryan Markovich and his 17 points. For Canterbury (6-2), Berrick Jeanlouis had 16 points for the Cougars.
MVP: Bryan Markovich (Cape Coral)
Center Bryan Markovich stands at 6’6″, 190 lbs. and after recording six points in the first half, he had 11 more in the second half. Markovich was making shots all over the floor including 3’s, long jumpers and shots inside to draw fouls. The junior really came on after the break in this one and is clearly someone that will keep Cape Coral’s season afloat.
Best offensive performance: Berrick Jeanlouis (Canterbury)
It was a rather quiet first half for Canterbury junior Berrick Jeanlouis as he posted only five points. However, he scored 11 of the 25 points over the final 20 minutes to finish with 16 points. Jeanlouis was blazing fast and got into the post often. When he isn’t dishing out fancy passes, Jeanlouis is attacking and using his length and speed to his advantage. At 6’5″, 180 lbs., the sky is the limit for the junior.
Best defensive performance: Harwin Francois (Cape Coral)
I counted Harwin Francois with six rebounds and two steals. On top of that, he had seven points and had some bright spots offensively. Francois proved the most on the defensive side of the ball and as a 6’4″, 180-pounder, he is a guy who will play a key role down low for Cape Coral.
Best guy off the bench: James Gibson (Cape Coral)
Junior forward James Gibson only had five points, but he brought momentum to Cape Coral’s side after trailing 18-16 through one quarter of play. Gibson stands at 6’3″, 185 lbs. and looks the part in the Seahawks rotation.
Best intangibles: Brandon Alcide (Cape Coral)
Brandon Alcide was dishing out key assists to his team down the stretch. The senior point guard had six points and really showed a lot as the main passer for Cape Coral. Alcide is a true leader for the Seahawks and he proved it tonight playing an unselfish game.
Best under-the-radar performance: Cam’ron Blissett (Cape Coral)
Forward Cam’ron Blissett quietly put together a solid game for the Seahawks. The senior forward is a strong player at 6’1″, 195 lbs. He had nine points against Canterbury and took the ball to the rack with confidence.
Best underclassmen: Thomas Pritchard (Canterbury)
Sophomore guard Thomas Pritchard was reliable for the Cougars. He had nine points including four in the third quarter alone. He attacked the basket and showed nice instincts as an offensive player. Pritchard is someone Canterbury can lean on.
Best catch and shoot guy: Bryson Royal (Canterbury)
Only a sophomore, Bryson Royal flashed his range all night long. He had all of his 14 points at the break and routinely hit on 3’s when given open space. Jeanlouis found him in the corner a few times in the second half.
Best energy guy: Alexander Hyppolite (Cape Coral)
Senior forward Alexander Hyppolite used his length to his advantage on Wednesday night. The 6’5″, 180-pounder had six points and did a good job of protecting the paint against Canterbury. Hyppolite showed some talent on offense as well.
