The game began with WCD 2019 Guard Jamal King starting off hot and leading his squad to an 11-10 lead at the end of one, however Joey Baker would come up big in the 2nd quarter and Trinity would never look back as he helped lead his team to a double digit victory over WCD.
Player of the Game: Trinity Christian 2019 Wing Joey Baker– Joey was simply outstanding on Monday night from the 2nd quarter until the end of the game, with highly rated 2019 teammate Josh Nickelberry battling foul trouble throughout the night his team needed him to step up and that’s exactly what he did. He knocked down treys from outside, battled inside for rebounds and loose ball, as well as finishing inside around the basket consistently, this is the type of game we love to see from Joey. When he is aggressive he is that much more dangerous as a player and even more intriguing as a prospect, Joey finished with 32 Points on the night.
Best Point Guard: Wayne Country Day 2018 Point Guard Jimmie Sanders– One thing we know about Jimmie is that regardless of who he is playing against he is bringing his A game and not backing down from any challenge. Even though his team was under manned he still played with the heart and desire that you love to see from a player, he’s a crafty ball handler and knocked down the midrange pullup with solid consistency. He is a vocal leader but most importantly he leads by action, he brings it on both ends of the floor and never takes a play off, Jimmie finished with 17 points on the night.
Best Big man: Trinity Christian 2017 Ethan Herring– Ethan did exactly was his team needed him to do Monday night: rebound the ball, block shots, and finish inside, he used his height and size advantage to score over opponents with ease throughout the night.
Play of the Game: This award belongs to 2019 WCD Guard Jamal King, Jamal split two defenders at the top of the key and attacked the basket, finishing with a thunderous left hand jam.
Stock Riser Performance: Wayne Country Day 2019 Guard Jamal King was outstanding throughout the night, he finished with 26 Points and matched up well with Joey Baker and Josh Nickelberry showing that he belongs in the convo with the top 2019’s. He doesn’t have any official scholarship offers at this point but we fully expect that to change before much longer, this young man can flat out play
