The Treasure Coast senior is relied upon heavily in the starting lineup. After appearing in seven varsity games as an underclassman, Grandison averaged 8.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in 23 games a year ago.
So far this season, he’s averaging 14 points, 12.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks. In a 74-69 loss to Countryside in the Turkey Shootout at Lehigh, Grandison showed up time and time again.
The 6’4″, 190-pounder had 16 points, 11 rebounds and an assist. He rarely comes off the floor. The lone negative from that game was his free throw shooting where he finished just 2-of-6 from the stripe.
Grandison is beyond athletic. He uses his speed to get up and done the floor with ease and his length gives him an edge at the three spot.
Sophomore point guard Tyrec Thompson gets Grandison involved often especially in fastbreak situations. Grandison put back a tremendous one-handed slam with a defender right in his face in the second half of the game against Countryside.
If you didn’t know about this kid yet, now you do. He has started the season at a high level and I expect him to keep it up for Treasure Coast. Grandison is someone that deserves more attention.
