After averaging 6.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals per game, the 6’2″ junior is one of six upperclassmen currently on the roster.
Amarildo Lane, Jordan Kabamba and Alfonso Franklin all graduated. The trio each averaged over 10 points per game. Add in the fact that junior Jalynn Williams transferred to St. Petersburg and Ballard is actually the top scorer returning from a season ago.
Ballard recorded seven 10-plus point games last season which included two 14-point games against Clearwater and Shorecrest Prep.
Duke Sherrod and Nino Duzha are two junior guards who will get a lot of play this season alongside Ballard. Down low, junior Jovanni Mitchell is the biggest guy at 6’6.” A’viance Newsome and Keon’Tae Sinclair are the lone seniors on this roster.
For the Vikings who went 16-13 a season ago, having Ballard at the forefront of the gameplan will be key. This kid has breakout potential written all over him in his junior campaign. He can play both the two and three spot on the floor and his length helps him hold up against some of the best.
