In a preseason opener on Thursday night, the freshman recorded 13 points in a 73-62 loss to host St. Petersburg.
Gilliam showed poised, knocking down 3’s and dishing out some impressive assists. He had the crowd on edge often with his passing ability.
He also took a couple of charges and held his own on the defensive end of things.
Gilliam is playing alongside one of the top junior wings in David Pierce who returned this season from a torn right ACL suffered last season. Look for Gibbs to gel early and often with Gilliam settling into his role even more.
He’s a 2020 prospect that will grow as a player this season. Gilliam is on track to be successful for the Gladiators as he takes over this offense.
